My mother's an alcoholic. She's a functional one. We can't get her to stop drinking. Sometimes she takes breaks from it. And she only drinks wine. It takes acceptance. It takes love. She is worth all our love. She's magical, really, with or without the drinking. I'm trying to feel all my gratitude toward her today. See all that she is -- all her creativity, her beauty, all her care and vitality. I have to or else it's too much, the thought of all we'll lose if she can't or won't take better care of herself.
